Brutus Monroe & Dare 2B Artzy Collaboration Project

 

When looking at the Dare 2 Be Artzy website to decide what sets I wanted to work with I just HAD to have the ReWrite the Stars set.  I love musicals and The Greatest Showman but one of my all time favorite songs is Pink's Million Dreams.  

To start my project I took a A2 card Panel and rubbed my antistatic bag all over it.  I took the Aerialist stamp and the stars and stamped them all over using the Brutus Monroe Embossing ink, and covered them with the Brutus Monroe Alabaster Embossing powder.  After I heat set the powder, I used a blending brush to cover the panel in Gubby and Game Over ink by Simon Hurley Creates.  I love how the two colors mix to create the orange.  I had the idea that these colors represent the big top of the circus.

Next I took the Hills Stencil and the Poppy Glitter Paste both from Brutus Monroe to cover part of the card front, being careful to not go over the edges of the stencil.  I set the card panel aside to dry.  Next I stamped the Sentiment from the Rewrite the Stars set and stamped it in the Game Over ink and covered it with the Alabaster Sparkle Embossing Powder.  After I heat set it, I noticed I did not have the entire sentiment covered, but I liked the two toned look.  I used my blending brush to ink the sentiment panel with Guppy Ink.  I used a couple of stitched dies from my stash to cut out the sentiment and the dry card panel.

Finally I used liquid glue to attach the sentiment to my card panel and my card panel to my white A2 Card base.

Collaboration with Crafty Meraki

 

Today's post is a Collaboration between Brutus Monore and Crafty Meraki.  I was lucky enough to receive the You are Incredible stamp set from Crafty Meraki to work with.  I will be honest I do not use flowers and water coloring images very often because I am not comfortable with it yet.  However, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for it.  I started by stamping the large floral image from the stamp set onto watercolor paper with Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink, covering the sticky ink with Gilded Sparkle Embossing Powder (also from Brutus Monroe), and heat set it. 

I chose three colors of Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigments.  I used the Creamy Green and Yellow Green for the leaves and the Coral for the flowers.  My first step was to lightly paint all of the images and let it bleed over the sides of the image to give it a loose or messy watercoloring feel.  I let that dry and then proceeded to go in with another more detailed layer with the Creamy Green and Coral.  After that layer was dry, I added some of the Yellow Green to the leaves to deepen and give some shading.  I also added more Coral to the flower petals using some clean water to blend it out until I was happy with the colors and set it aside to dry completely.

Once dry, I put the panel in my splat box and covered the whole panel with splatters from all three colors.  I also grabbed the Gilded Aqua Pigment to add some gold splatters.  I decided to fussy cut out the entire image.  I tried several slimline card bases in a couple of colors and realizing I was out of cream cardstock, I chose a kraft base.  My card base measures 8.5 x 3.5.  

I wanted more shimmer and shine so I pulled out my Slim line stencils from Brutus Monore and flipped through them all to decide to use the Bamboo stencil.  I placed that down on my card base, taping the top and bottom of the stencil in place with low tack tape.  I generously applied the Brutus Monroe Embossing ink to the sides of the cardbase and through the stencil.  I then poured more Gilded Sparkle Embossing powder over the ink and heat set it.  I also did this to a scrap of kraft paper to the LOVE sentiment from the Crafty Meraki Stamp set.

I used foam tape to attach the floral panel to the front of my Gilded Stenciled base and liquid glue to attach some glitter sequins and my sentiment.

2020 Growing In Unity Week Post #4

I can't believe the week is almost over (and 2020).  I am going to end 2020 with another card featuring Diana Girl (from the Angie girls by Angie Blom).

I stared by stamping with a black Copic friendly ink and coloring up Diana with Copic Markers in the Red, Blue and Gold theme.  I used a grey marker on the bottom to ground her.  Next, I used my scan and cut to cut her out.  I used a straight blade to carefully cut a slit inside her legs and then my super pointy fussy cutting scissors to finish removing the white uncolored cardstock.

Next taking an A2 white card panel, I used a blue and red ink from my stash to ink blend a very loose background.  I didnt blend the colors together much or concentrate on making a very smooth blend as I was leaving some white to show through and I knew I would be using a background stamp as well.

I lined up my blended card panel and the Hit the Brick background stamp (a Unity Stamp Co and Brutus Monroe Collaboration) in my Mini Misti.  I first stamped the background with some black ink.  Then I wiped of my stamp and using a Ranger blending tool and foam circle, I added Deco Foil Transfergel to the stamp.  I applied the gel to the foam circle with my finger and carefully pounced the stamp over the entire background stamp, adding more transfer gel to the foam as needed.  I stamped the background and when I lifted the Misti lid the panel stuck to my stamp, (this is fine, I ran my fingers over the backside to make sure the transfer gel attached the the panel).  I carefully removed the panel and set it aside to dry. (about 30-60 mins)  Next I took a small paintbrush and carefully brushed the 
parts of my Diana stamp that I wanted to be gold (belt, necklace, tiara, boots, cuffs) and set that aside to dry.  I very quick cleaned my stamp, paintbrush and even my foam circle with some water to remove any leftover transfer gel.

I found a piece of red cardstock from my scratch paper and cut it down to just shy of 4.25" x 5.5" to be a mat for my colored panel.  I used a circle die that would fit around the sentiment from the Diana girl set and cut it out of the center of the red panel.  Using my powder bag to treat the circle, I stamped the sentiment with embossing ink (with the help of my mini Misti) and covered the sentiment in Gilded Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe.  I set the sentiment wiht my heat tool.

Once my panel and Diana Girl were dry, I covered them with Deco Foil Gold Foil and ran them through my preheated laminator (twice).  I just love the reveal of peeling back the foil to see the final results.

I used liquid glue to attach my sentiment circle and Diana to my Brick Wall background and then that panel to my red mat.  After attaching everything to my card panel, I decided I wanted to enchance the stars on her costume.  I used a star border die from my stash to cut out the stars and attach them to the thigh and breast of Diana (where the black star stamped).  I also added a few of these white star around my sentiment.

What do you think?  Don't you just love it?  The inspiration for this card is my Aunt who is undergoing Chemotherapy this week. She is a wonderful woman and I admire her so much.  I plan on mailing this card to her right after the new year.

Last Brutus Monroe/Thermoweb Collaboration Card - Joy Blue Wave Foil

I want to apologize for my post is going up so late today.  I have been tired and slept most of the day.  For my last card for the Brutus Monroe and Thermoweb Collaboration week, I featured the Blue Wave Foil.  This foil is stunning and once again the photos do not do it justice.  

Here is a close. up showing the fun pattern in the foil.

I started by spreading the Deco Foil Duo Transfer Gel across the Beautiful Bauble 6x9 Stencil with my Stencil Pal and set it aside until it is tacky. (It takes about an hour depending on how thick I put on the gel.). While drying a dug around in my scrap bin and found a dark blue piece of paper and cut it down to A2 card size.  I put it in my splat box and used some shimmer spray from my stash.  I chose some letter dies and cut out the word Joy from the center of card panel.  

I warmed up my laminator for about 20 mins and then I ran my Bauble pan through.  Remember when using foil the pretty side (the foil you want to see) should be faced up and away from the transfer gel. I cut the panel down to about 4" x 5.25" and lightly ink blended some blue ink to soften the stark white of the background.  I used liquid glue to attach the JOY to the front.  Finally, I attached some of the Silver Glitter Sequins for some added sparkle.

Brutus Monroe/Thermoweb Collaboration Unconventional Christmas Color

 

One quick card today that I forgot to share yesterday for the Brutus Monroe and Thermoweb Collaboration this week.  I made an unconventional Christmas color using Blue and Yellow.

I started off using Pixie Spray to temporarily attached the Beautiful Baubles 6x9 stencil to my Precut Slim Line Card Panel.  Then I used my Stencil Pal and some of Brutus Monroe's Chromo Glaze-Teal.  While I let my panel dry, I prepared the rest of my card.

I took some Yellow Flock and cut it down to fit my Precut Slim Line Card Base and then I used one of the Circle Foundation dies on the middle of my flock for my sentiment.  (I like to cut matching pieces out of the pieces that are matted behind my panel as no one will ever see it.)

I stamped the Merry & Bright Sentiment from the stamp set of the same name with Raven detail ink on the Yellow Flocked Circle, using my Misti.  I used my Misti so I could stamp it a few times, as sometimes you need multiple times to get a clean stamped image on flock.  

Once my panel was dry, I used liquid glue to attach it to my Yellow Flock mat and then attached both pieces to my card base.  I also used liquid glue to attach my sentiment and for a final touch some Flat Black Pearls.

Brutus Monroe and Thermoweb Collaboration Day 3 (RAINGLOW FOIL!)

Happy Wednesday!  The week is half over already and the month has flown by.  How is it Halloween next week?  Today's card is a simple layout because I wanted to showcase the BEAUTIFUL FOIL from Brutus Monroe/Deco Foil on this card.  It is called Rainglow and you can purchase it here.  The photo does not do the foil justice.  It is Gorgeous!  The rainbow has a "billion" stars in it. 

I started the same as I did with Monday's card.  This time I used the Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo with the Falling Leaves 6x9 Stencil on a Slim Line Precut Card Panel.  I let it dry and then I ran it through my laminator with the Rainglow foil.  I did trim my foiled panel down slightly and matted it on a piece of blue paper from my scrap bin.  After attaching the whole thing to my Slim Line Precut Card Base, (which I scored and folded at 3.5"), I used a matching blue scrap to stamp my sentiment.  I treated the scrap with my embossing bag and then stamped the Hello (from Super Sentimental) with the Brutus Monroe Embossing ink and covered it with my favorite white Embossing Powder - Alabaster.  After I heat set the sentiment and attached it to my card front.  I added some white flat back pearls next to my sentiment.

Brutus Monroe/Thermoweb Collaboration day 2

 

My day 2 collaboration project is my other 2 for one card.  I used the "leftover" flock pieces and I used an eraser and my craft pick to scrap/erase away the indentations left from peeling apart the flock from my panel from yesterdays card.  I was inspired by a recent Jennifer McGuire video to make a top gatefold card in the Slim Line size.  Her video is here.

Using the measurements from Jennifer's video I created my card and attached my two flocked panels to the front of my top and bottom panels.  I used some Gold Glitterstock and cut it down to about 1.5 inches and attached that to the top half of my card covering the opening.  Using one of the large circle foundation dies cut out of white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from the Merry and Bright Stamp set using the Brutus Monroe Embossing ink.  I chose the Gilded Embossing Powder to cover my sentiment and heat set it.  I used a couple of dies from my stash to cut some "ornaments" from scrap pieces of Emerald Flock and Glitterstock.

Finally I stamped another holiday from my stash with the same embossing ink on a 1/2 inch piece of Emerald flock and heat set the same Gilded embossing powder.  This sentiment I attached to the inside of my card.

Brutus Monroe and Thermoweb Collaboration--Merry Christmas Card with Flock

 This week I will feature a variety of cards for a collaboration using products from Brutus Monroe and Thermoweb. 

My first card is a two for one.  I will share the first card today and the second one tomorrow.

Above is a look at my Slim Line Card and matching envelope. First thing I did was apply Pixie Spray to the Background Baubles 6x9 stencil to temporarily affix it to my Slimline Precut Card Panel.  I used a Stencil Pal and some Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo to apply a thin layer of gel over my stencil.  I carefully removed the stencil, set my card panel aside to dry and washed my stencil and pallet knife right away in some warm soapy water.  *Crafty Tip:  Sometime when I am using stencils and a medium like Transfer Gel or Glazes, I keep a clean ice cream bucket of warm soapy water on the floor next to my work area and just put the stencils in the bucket until I am finished.  Then I clean up all of the stencils in the sink, using a nail brush to gently clean off any "hard" to remove areas-like in the instance of glitter.

                                                            While I waited for my card panel to dry (about an hour depending on the thickness of the gel, it dries clear and gets sticky when ready), I scored and folded my Slimline Pre Cut Card Base in half and reinforced the fold with my bone folder.  I used my paper trimmer to cut down my Glitterstock to 8.5" x 3" and used the Merry Christmas word dies from my stash to cut the words out of the center of my glitterstock panel.  *Crafty Tip:  I do that with my mat layers because no one will ever know a cut is in them, it saves on paper, and I have a matching piece for my card.

Once my panel was ready, I turned on my laminator to warm up and placed my Emerald Flock face down on the panel (I used two pieces as they are 6x6 panels and carefully lined them up to cover my whole panel without any seams.  Then I placed the cardbase and the flock inside a folded piece of parchment and ran it through my laminator, twice.  This is something I forget.  With flock you need to run it through the laminator TWICE!

I let the panel cool slightly, then peeled off the flock and tada!  Green fuzzy ornaments.  I glued my panel to the Glitterstock mat and then to my card base.  Using my T-ruler, I lined up my sentiment in the middle and added some confetti circles (from my stash) for some added bling.

I decided I wanted to make a matching envelope, so I used one of the SlimLine Envelopes (Alabaster) from Brutus Monroe.  I lined up my stencil carefully on the left half and used Simon Hurley Creates Later Gator ink with a blender brush.  I then transferred the stencil to the right side of the envelope and recreated the same look.  I kept the darker blend on the ornaments to the outside, where I would not be writing any address and lighter in the middle.
